Smartwatches have become a highly popular gadget in recent years, with the figures suggesting that shipments worldwide of these gadgets will go from 37 million units in 2016 to over 253 million units by 2025.

Indeed, this particular type of wearable technology is one of the most popular at the moment and has been able to be experienced by a number of different types of consumers, with many using them for a variety of different uses, including fitness and communicating.

However, whilst we have already seen a number of innovations take place within the market, we can expect to see a number more take place in the coming years. Here are just some that could happen in 2022:

Play games and place wagers

One of the biggest technological trends that we could see at some point in this calendar year is to see smartwatches become more game-friendly, as well as being able to allow people to do other activities such as placing a bet from their wrist.

Indeed, those that may have liked what they saw when reading the Buzzluck casino reviews may have been desperate to be able to use their smartwatch device in order to play one of the many games that they have available. Hopefully, that is something that they will be able to do in the near future, especially as technology becomes better and developers become more innovative.

Bigger screens

There are individuals in the world that like a watch that has a rather small face, however there are some that like their piece of wrist jewelry to have a rather large face, and this is something that we could see in the coming months that smartwatch creators look to take advantage of.

Naturally, there are a number of benefits of introducing bigger faces, as users will be able to do a range of different activities, including the use of a keyboard that Apple has already managed to implement successfully for users who like to communicate on their device.

Longer battery life

Perhaps one of the most obvious trends that we should easily be able to expect, and would actually be surprised if it did not happen, would be to see smartwatches have their battery life be improved.

If manufacturers of these devices are going to make them better and more innovative for developers to be able to create new applications that will allow users to do more, then it would seem rather apparent that they are going to need to improve the battery and the life that they have if they are to be successful.

Watch videos

This one might be a little bit more of an ambitious trend compared to some of those that have been mentioned above, but could 2022 be the year where we are able to use this particular wearable tech to watch videos and perhaps stream?

It would be rather amazing if we were able to watch YouTube or Netflix on our wrist whilst we are traveling, whilst it would also be pretty awesome if we could catch the latest sporting events or highlights, too!

We’d say that 2022 could be a little too early for that, but you never know!
