Microsoft have just updated the Windows Device Recovery tool adding support for the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL, the release notes don’t call out the new device but I tested and it now detects the 950 XL. That means you can now reset or recover your phone with the tool, and when Microsoft release new builds of Windows 10 Mobile for the 950 and 950 XL the tool can be used to recover the device in an emergency.
The new phones ship with build 10586.0 of Windows 10 Mobile whereas Windows Insiders currently have 10576.29. Hopefully a new build for the 950 and 950 XL will be released this week.
