Today Microsoft released Update 3 for Windows RT including a feature for Windows RT that I am pretty sure nobody has ask for. This update sees a new Windows 10 style start menu that seems to be based on a version shown in an early version of Windows 10 Preview which uses Window 8.1 APIs.

As you can see in the video the new optional start menu looks fine but is a bit of a waste of time as you can’t have windowed apps and the only desktop apps you can use is Office. I still don’t understand why the time was spent developing the UI change but here it is in action.
