Xbox One OneGuide in the UK

Today Microsoft have rolled out an update for the Xbox One that adds OneGuide to the Xbox One for users in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. With OneGuide you can have a set top box like a Sky+ box connected into your Xbox One via the HDMI input and then browse the EPG from the Xbox One and it will control the box via IR. The integration works pretty well (see my video) and if you want to have the Xbox as your main device connected to your TV the integration is nice plus you get voice control of your set top box via Kinect.

Also in the June update is support for up to two external USB 3 drivers and you no longer need Xbox Live Gold to access apps like Netflix.

  1. Hi Ian,

I’ve set my guide up and all seems well with the channel guide showing the correct channel numbers. However, when I click on a channel in the guide, the system seems to try to send a six-digit code to the sky box. I have no idea why this should be. Could you skate details of exactly how you set yours up – particularly the device control code you selected.

    Regards

      1. Thanks for the fast reply. I don’t have any options for sky+ HD l – sky uk I’d the closest. What appears to be happening is that it is sending each digit of the three digit channel code twice – so that 106 becomes 110066. I’ve no idea how to stop it doing this. Don’t suppose you’ve any ideas?

        Thanks again
