Our very own Derek Flickinger has been playing with the updated CableCARD firmware that enables Copy Freely and so far he seems impressed. He told me “It looks like ALL of the FiOS channels are showing as unprotected (Copy Freely)”
He did say that maybe Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks both are flagging EVERYTHING except the broadcast channels as Copy Once (protected).

I can tell you for a fact that Time Warner does indeed lock down all the cable card channels. I still own a Tivo HD and I was unable to download most programs except locals.
