If you using Windows Home Server to store all your music and you have Zune you may want to install the Zune desktop software on Windows Home Server so you can manage syncing with your device. Out of the box the Zune software will not install on WHS but with a little bit of work it can be done. On the Home Server Show blog they have a little guide on how to do it, it does involve editing the install file but if you need to install the software the guide has all the steps

Wouldn’t it be good if future versions of Windows Home Server had the “Zune Server” application installed so you could use it to manage all your Zunes and act as a DLNA server for the home?

I downloaded Orca from here and installed it.  I downloaded the XP version of  Zune here and copied it to a WHS share.

Extract the zunesetuppkg-86 file, which is a 52.9 meg to a folder with the same name.  Go into that folder and open the packages folder.

Right click on Zune-x86, and if you installed Orca, you should have an option to Edit with Orca
