As yet I have not been able to download the official Windows 7 Beta1 from the Microsoft website.
Looking at this page on their site, it says:

Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal—we’re in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We’re sorry for the delay and we’ll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.”

Still no official download link available?

  1. Nope. Just have a Windows Live ID. Worked like a charm for me and I know one other person it worked for. I have no idea why since I don’t pay for Technet or MSDN but I’m a happy panda this morning!

  2. It didn’t seem to work in Firefox I got re-directed. So tried it in IE, I got the error page as described and had to keep refreshing a bunch of times, I must have tried 30-40 times but it never worked, I also tried the 32Bit and 64Bit links

Pressing F5 so many times reminded me of that Simpson’s episode where Homer starts remote working from home and he has that little swinging bird pendulum thing who’s beak repeatedly hits the Y key on his keyboard but then the power plant blows up lol. I needed that little bird.

  3. Not working for me this morning either. Don’t know if that means that all the keys are gone or if it’s just completely down.

  4. Since my last comment I’ve been pressing F5, my finger hurts now and I’m bored so will try again to get the download tomorrow.

  5. I picked up a Windows 7 Beta DVD from Microsoft yesterday so I can start installing on Monday AM when I get home 🙂

  6. Well the best I could do was leave a nasty comment on the follow up survey I got after being redirected to MS’ home page. Leave it to MS to flub an obvious PR win for themselves. There is know way that they could not have anticipated a HUGE demand for Win 7 after all the great press they got on the PDC build and I’m sure they’ve been monitoring the torrent downloads too. Don’t get me wrong I’m still dying to get my hands on a legal copy with a valid key of Win 7. And when I do I’m sure I’ll be singing it’s praises to all my friends and the people whose tech buying I influence. But for now all I’m left with is anticipation and a sour taste in my mouth by this experience. There’s nothing worse that dying to get you hands on something and finding out you have to wait. It’s like openning thta present you were realy hoping you’d get on X-Mas morning and finding out you don’t have the batteries to make it work. ;-(
Oh well. I guess I’ll just keep hitting the Window 7 website waiting for some good news.

  7. Okay looks like the D/L links and and Product key links are back up. I still stand by what I said above though.

On the positive side though everything I’ve seen with Windows 7 so far looks very promising and a job well done by MS.
