The Akai AX73 is a somewhat forgotten gem of an analog synth. Featuring six voices that can be used in poly mode, dual mode, or mono mode, stacking all six Voltage-Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), it boasts a 24 dB/oct VCF filter and intriguing modulation routing that gives it a unique sound.

I recently gained access to a vast selection of AX73 multi-samples, which I’ve now brought into the world of the Modwave. This sound pack comprises over 50 performances for the Modwave, utilizing the original samples from the AX73 that I’ve meticulously created multi-samples with. To prevent overwhelming the user sample space on the Modwave, I’ve included only one or two samples per multi-sample, resulting in a complete collection of just 135 MB.

The collection features an array of captivating sounds, ranging from deep basses to resonant filter sweeps and warm string sounds.

To get started, simply download the zip file, unzip it, and import the bundle file into your Modwave, Modwave Rack, Modwave mkII, or Modwave Native. If you already have a sample bank, launch the Korg Sample Editor and import the multi-samples from the “ID-AX73_V1/Multisamples” folder. If you don’t yet have a sample bank, you can open my “Akai AX73 V1.korgbank” in the Korg Sample Editor and transfer it to your Modwave.
