It’s been a while since we have a Canary Channel release, but we finally have a new build to play with. Build 25905 for Windows Insiders on the Canary channel changes the branch to RS_PRERELEASE which means many of the features that were not available in the previous branch are back.
The change over means that features available in the dev channel such as Dev Drive, the new backup and restore features, dynamic lighting and the updated version of File Explorer are now available in this release. Ther other changes include the removal of ARM32 app support and RUST in Kernal mode.
The UI changes include updated emoji that colour gradients on them:
Believe it or not, Microsoft have fixed Zune support for Windows 11. This is part of the Mavel Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 release, I must dig out my Zune HD and give it a try.
There are a couple of known issues with this release:
[NEW] This build will not be offered to ASUS devices or PCs with ASUS motherboards.
[NEW] Ethernet-connected devices may lose network connectivity after updating to this build. Unplugging the ethernet cable and re-plugging the cable in should resolve the issue.
