It looks like Windows 10 will get native Amazon Alexa support in 2018. Last year Microsoft and Amazon announced that there was to be a partnership between the digital assistants but end of 2017 timeframe was missed and this new integration is coming directly from Amazon.

The Verge reports that PC OEMs like Acer, Lenovo and HP are bring Alexa support to their PCs. The Alexa app will be available in the Spring and it’s not clear yet if it replaces the need for a hardware Alexa device that can communicate natively with smart home devices or if it is just an acompaning app like the Android app. Either way It’s going to be serious competition to Microsoft’s Cortana on Windows.
