Since switching to a Windows 10 Mobile with my Lumia 950 XL I have occasionally run into issues getting notifications on the Microsoft Band 2. I have also seen many others having notification issues as well, the type of issues I have seen are where email, SMS, notification centre and other notifications fail but the Band is paired correctly to the phone and music control and syncing with Microsoft Health are all working ok.
So here are some solution I and others have found to work.
Fix 1 – Reboot the phone. Normally this will resume notifications coming through on the Microsoft Band, if it still doesn’t work try rebooting the Band after a phone reboot.
Fix 2 – Uninstall and re-install the Microsoft Health app, this fixed notifications for me after a Microsoft Health app update and after a new Windows 10 build.
Fix 3- Turn back on notifications. I found that the app had turned off the notifications tile so the tile was still present on the Band but didn’t do anything. To turn it back on go to the Microsoft Health app, tap the menu button and select Manage tiles. Then tap on the pen text to the Notifications Center and turn on notifications.
Fix 3 – If none of the above have fixed it you could try this tip from the Microsoft Band twitter account. Add the Facebook tile to your Microsoft Band (in the Manage tiles section of the Microsoft Health app) and that will fix the notifications problem. I have no idea why turning on the Facebook tile would fix other notifications but it does seem to work.

I haven’t suggested re-pairing the Microsoft Band with the phone as I have found the actual connection has never been an issue, as I said at the start syncing with the Microsoft Health app always works ok. I hope this helps someone and if you have any tips let me know and I will add them to the post.

I previously had a small problem about the band being unable to control media and music when the phone was connected to the bluetooth speakers or headsets, but after following these basic steps even that problem was solved and now the Microsoft band works like a charm.
