MediaPortal is an open source media center application for Windows that is built on the .net framework and supports live TV, music and video playback. The development team have just release a pre-release version of MediaPortal 1.9.0 for testing.

The new version doesn’t see a lot of changes with the development team focusing on bug fixes and stability with this release. There are some changes including UNC TV streaming support (if you’re having issues with RTSP), thumbnail generation improvements, content protection improvements and skin design changes.

Grab the download and read the release notes over on the MediaPortal blog.
