One area where Windows 8.1 suffers a little is with video player apps, the native video app plays a limited set of formats and so far VLC for ARM powered devices is still missing. One app that does play MVK and FLC files is PressPlay a free app for Windows 8.1 and the app has just been updated. The new release has improved playback of MKV and FLV files as well as it now remembers where you got up to in a video file so when you return to it later it will continue where you left off.

The app is free and available from the Windows Store and well worth giving a try.
