One of the first Windows apps for watching your movie collections on devices like the Surface was Movie Premier, the app works as a media browser with automatic metadata support and plays a variety of formats (but not MVK). The app has been updated with some new features including subtitle support, parental controls, customer filters and playback rate controls. While we wait for VLC for Windows 8 on ARM this is an app worth checking out.
