Plex have announce that Chromecasting feature introduced to Plex last month is now free to all Plex users. When Chromecast support was added to Plex you need to be a PlexPass subscriber to take advantage of the feature but now is free for all Plex users running the latest releases of their iOS and Android apps. With the apps you can stream your media stored on a Plex server to Google’s Chromecast dongle.

Also in the updated iOS app they now have a new shuffle all my music feature which is part of a new play queue system. As well as shuffling all your music you can also apply filters to the playlist. Plex are planning to include full playlists in future builds of the system. Play queues are also available for video playback so you can do things like queue up unwatched TV episode or shuffle a selection of shows. You can also use filters on the shuffle list to restrict it to a particular rating or filter by other metadata.

For PlexPass subscribers there is a new photo backup feature that will automatically backup photos from your iPhone to the Plex server
