So far I have been really impressed with the Microsoft Surface, it makes a great tablet and a great PC.  As it’s a PC you can connect it up to a 2nd monitor so you could have the Surface connected to a TV. Microsoft sell VGA and HDMI adapters in the Microsoft store and the HDMI adapter costs a whopping £34.99.

Microsoft call it a “Surface HD Digital AV Adapter” , this is how they describe it in the store:

Designed for Surface with Windows RT, this proprietary HD Digital AV Adapter lets you connect your device to any HDMI-compatible display (HDTV, monitor, or projector) and stream movies, play video games, and watch slideshows in high definition.

What Microsoft don’t really say is that the HD video port on Surface is actually a standard micro HDMI port and any micro HDMI adapter or cable will work with it.

The standard adapters can be picked up on Ebay or Amazon for a new pounds and in this video I test a £3 Micro HDMI adapter with a Microsoft Surface.
