Today the BBC announced the BBC news app for Sony connected TVs in the UK (Sony BRAVIA Internet TVs). This joins the apps for Samsung and Panasonic connected TVs as the BBC continue to distribute their content on multiple platforms.

 

Today, the product launches on the Sony connected TV platform in the UK.

I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get the product – now developed from BBC Future Media’s Salford base – onto three sizeable platforms so quickly after launch; audience response has been fantastic, but first a quick recap of the product and its key features

Sony is proud to announce that the new BBC News app will be joining the iPlayer on the Sony Entertainment Network, providing UK consumers with news from the UK and around the world, straight to their living rooms, at the push of a button. The application provides viewers with news throughout the day, selected and constantly updated by a dedicated team in the newsroom.
The app is designed to give the viewer an on-demand TV news channel experience, presenting video and text content in an easy-to-view TV friendly format, with content drawn from BBC News operations in the UK and around the world.
Edd Uzzell, Sony category development manager, said: “The News app provides another great way for people to keep on top of what’s going on at a time that suits them. We continue to add new and exciting partners to the Sony Entertainment Network, ensuring there is always something great to watch.”
This app will be available on all Sony BRAVIA Internet TVs (CX520, CX523, EX320, EX523, EX524, EX723, EX724, NX723, HX723, HX823 and HX923 models)
