In the Developer Preview of Windows 8 there are very few media features other than the old Windows Media Player but I expect to see Metro styled media player in the beta out in February. This week some screenshots from Windows 8 have been leaked showing the new built in music. It looks like a cross between the Zune PC app and Windows Phone and enables pinning of music and has links to a music store.

There is no guarantee that the screens are authentic but it looks as you would expect a Windows 8 Media Player to look

  1. I’m liking Windows 8 (metro) less and less every day. Metro works great on Windows Phone (and Zune & WMC if they count) but on 360 and in the Preview, its horrible.

  2. If the WMP replacement is like an updated Zune player I’ll be happy with that for the 2 foot UI.

I hope Windows Media Center Music Library and WMC in general also gets a face lift but I am not holding my breath on that!
