Since getting the new Apple TV I have been waiting for Firecore (the developers of the aTV hack for the original Apple TV) to come out with a hack to enable extra features on the device. I registered for the beta months ago and at last Firecore have an update on their progress. They say the installer is 95% complete and the surfer app 65% complete. The main feature I am looking for is the additional video codecs and NAS streaming support which they say is 15% complete, but they say a beta may only be weeks away:
So, when is the beta coming?
We’re planning to have the first beta version available within the next 1-2 weeks – possibly even next week.
