You wait years for a remote guide application for Media Center and then a couple come along almost at the same time. I am happily using Remote Potato but there is another solution which utilises Windows Home Server. Remote Wizard for Windows Home Server is a central managed guide solution that runs on a Windows Home Server. There is a client app that runs on each Media Center box and a service app that runs on WHS.
Once configured you can manage each Media Center’s schedules and can create recordings from the home server UI. The developer says there is an integrated EPG in works too. To get hold of the beta send an email to [email protected] and sign you up for the Beta, make sure you let them know your WHS and Media Center configurations when you sign up.
