I just collect the Xtreamer today and had a brief overview of the unit. I will be doing a video review later in the week but my first impression after seeing a demo is that its a very versatile device and if you want to distribute content around your home this is a very cost effective solution. I saw it playing 1080p content over the network (from a Windows Home Server) without any issues, if you download content from the internet eg MVK and want it on your TV with minimal of fuss this could be ideal.

The unit has HDMI, Ethernet, composite output, USB, optical output and comes with a remote control. You can add a hard drive, play content from the network or USB and at the moment comes with a USB wireless network adapter.

I will do the usual unboxing video and a proper look at the system later in the week but what I seen so far I could see this fitting very nicely into my network and at £99 its a very cost effective solution

  1. That’s a mighty impressive spec list. How much did I pay for my extender (Xbox) again?

As it does Flash video and YouTube the obvious question is: Will it do iPlayer?
