Microsoft is starting to ramp up its advertising campaign for Windows 7 and has a series of videos showing off Windows 7 features and one of them focuses on Windows Media Center. The video start of showing Media Center on a laptop which is something Microsoft seems very keen on focusing on at the moment but to my surprise they also show Media Center running on a Xbox 360 in the living room so its good to see the range of Media Center options being shown.

Its about time we see some advertising highlighting Windows Media Center

  1. Maybe it just me, but I don’t get the idea of demoing Media Center on a laptop. Isn’t the point of a laptop that it’s portable? From the ad, how will Family Guy record on the laptop when the laptop is sitting in someone’s backpack? Or worse, now I have to pull the laptop out everytime a TV show needs to record or someone wants to watch TV? Plus, I don’t know of any laptops with built-in CableCARD tuners, so my laptop dock will need to include plugging in TV tuners. Now, a Homegroup that allows me to easily transfer Recorded TV to the laptop, so it can be watch when traveling, etc. that I can understand.

  2. Pretty good! Honestly, though, I’d cut out all the irrelevant sections with the guy playing the guitar and spend more time just tapping through the interface. Show that guide, show jumping to shows 5 days from now, show that zippy performance scanning through a football game, show a guide that has 4 things recording at once, then move on to show the guy with his date.

I don’t think that normal people will catch on to martyus’ concerns about having to be docked to the tuner at recording time.
