I should have the full press release from Microsoft soon so in the mean time here are a summary of the announcements coming today, as you can see there is not a lot to talk about but this CEDIA is more about showing Windows 7 to the intergrator market then talking about new features

  • Switched Digital Video (SDV) support for Windows Media Center with CableCARD
  • End users can now add digital cable tuners to Windows Media Center without the need for a special OEM box or any hacks or special keys. There is a minimum standard that the PC has to attain and there will be a downloadble tool to enable the DCT
  • Copy Freely flagged recordings can be recorded without copy protection on CableCARD recordings so you can watch them on other PCs and should work with HomeGroup etc
  • There will be a firmware update for existing DCTs to enable the about features

Also at the show they are announcing the winner of the Ultimate Install Content Winner: Dustin Anderson from Vision Audio.

I imaging lots of people will be disappointed by the lack of announcements as I feel some people where expecting more (no new Extenders or tuners etc) but this is about what I expected, maybe the Windows 7 launch will bring more announcements…

I will publish Microsoft’s official press release when I get it
