On Gottabemobile Warner has written about a developer being offered money (by Microsoft) to port his applications to the Zune HD platform. Apps are the one thing missing from the Zune HD and with the power of the underlying hardware it makes sense for Microsoft to get some applications on to it. It would be great to see an App Store, a DLNA controller would be a great addition!

John Gruber of Daring Fireball is reporting that one iPhone/iPod Touch app developer says he was offered “a bucket of money” to port his iPhone app to the Zune platform. Sounds like Microsoft is sniffing some signs of weakness in the Apple behemoth and going for broke if it is true.

That only makes sense if all of the very positive sounds we’re hearing about the Zune HD prove to be the case when it is released in September. Microsoft has already hit Apple where it hurts on the pricing scheme by dropping the price way below the iPod Touch
