Microsoft have released another “Fix It For Me” fix for Windows Media Center (this is where clicking on the button on the KB page fixes the problem), this one is for the error message “Media Center has stopped working”

KB947464 says: “This problem occurs if the Windows Media Center update process (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store. You may experience this problem if the data store is damaged”

The solution is to delete the Media Center data store which can be done automatically using the Fix It button or do it manually:

  1. This is the DB that holds the manual channel maps, isn’t it?

Not much of a solution, since I’d have to remap 50+ Channels

  2. no your right, but it would be a good file to backup with my backup tool or with Windows Home Server
