Hopefully Ian will be able to get us some more details on this baby from CES over the next couple of days.  I’m currently thinking about an upgrade for my remote, currently a Harmony 525 which has been super for a while and has become even more capable with my new HD TV.

It comes at a great time then, and I was hoping that they would, but Logitech are coming out with an new version of their high end remote, the Harmony 1100.

Details are fairly scant at the moment, but over on their own forums Logitech have released a couple of tiny details.  The OS for this new remote is Flash-based and has better performance than the Harmony 1000.  There are more options for customising icons for buttons within an activity, something that’s been a bit of an issue on the forums for a while.  There still isn’t a way to customise the Activity icons themselves though.  Still I’d like to be able to include a nice “green button”.  If you want to get some more details on the device itself have a quick look at Uber Gizmo (that’s where the pic is from)

Oh yeah, and there’s a clock too which is apparently rather nice!

What I’ve already noticed is that the price has dropped on the Harmony One (which is more like a traditional remote in its form) and presumably the price for the Harmony 1000 will be dropping soon too.  I’d love to give one a review if there are any PR folks for Logitech out there! [hint hint].

  1. I have a 1000 in my home theater and I’m really not all that impressed with it, I like the “One” much better, have one in my living room and office if it supported RF I’d replace the 1000 in my theater with it. The 1100 would have to be a huge improvement, though the fact that it’s black is already a step in the right direction. : )

  2. Looks like its going to be another shit remote. Very dissapointed with logitech remotes, if its cool and durability you want then get a URC 880 or 980 and forget about silly touch screen stuff all of that demands processin which logitech will not provide a good processor chip for, they will rather make it looks good and performs shit, then sell them for an arm and leg
