imageI just went to download the current Kanye West album just got this message whilst trying to install the software to download albums.  Bummer.

Then I remembered….

…“Troubleshoot compatibility”.

This fantastic feature lets you run any new programs as if you have an older version of Windows.  What you need to do is right click on the executable and select “Troubleshoot compatibility”.  Then you’ll get this little wizard to walk you through it.  It’s really easy (check the album for the screenshots) select a version of Windows that it used to work with, for the Amazon MP3 downloader I selected Vista.  Then click Next, authorise UAC and off you go.

Having done this I was able to install the application perfectly, provide feedback on the problem and most importantly download those albums!  Just another, simple, easy Windows 7 feature.

  1. Yeah, you’re absolutely right. But people forget about it, as did I. It’s so much more friendly in Windows 7 though.
