Really interesting article here on ZDnet where the latest build of Windows 7 has been benchmarked.  On the kit they tested on Windows 7 (6965) booted in just 20 seconds, which is pretty darn speedy, and actually faster than XP with SP3.  From our point of view the Cinebench performance gives us an inkling about HTPC performance, and it looks good!  There’s a whole bunch of other interesting stuff that’s well worth a look.

  1. I know that 6801 is running terrible for me on an older Dell system. It’s a hyperthreaded P4 with 1GB ram and a 64MB video card. I have a feeling that a lot of the problem is drivers though.

I’ll try and grab the latest build and see if it’s any better. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the beta when it comes out.
