I thought I should draw a little attention to these two related bits of info that popped up on The Digital Lifestyle in the past 24 hours.  Kingtone threw this tip off into the forums last night, it’s a tip off for those who missed it about a great blog article discussing how you can really get to grips with whats doing the audio and video decoding on your system and how you can tweak it to get a better experience.

Have a look at AndyVTs blog for the detail.

Our own GaryWMA also blogged yesterday about his more accessible tool, Vista Media Center Decoder – which at 180,000 downloads must be one of the most popular apps out there (by the way Gary unless I missed it it’s not on our Wiki), which lets you tinker with your default decoders.

  1. One thing to note about Andy’s really excellent article is that VMC overrides the default graph with what is in the registry regardless of the Merit values.
