One of the most popular Media Center applications is coming to Windows Home Server, My Movies for Windows Home Server works as a server for My Movies client applications and includes a fully automated Disk Copier. It also works as a meta-data provider for other applications like Microsoft’s DVD Library,Niveus Movie Library, Open Media Library, Media Portal, and soon XBMC without the need for installing the My Movies client. I will have some more details on it soon and I will have My Movies developer Brian Binnerup on [tmcs] soon to explain all about it
Just looked at the screen shots closer! One feature that I would LOVE to see in the DVD copier for both the standard version and the Home Server version is to be able to execute a script upon completion of the copy. If this were provided, it would be nice to have variable substitution for the Movie Name, The Folder Name, and the full path to the folder. This way, we could call a batch file or executable such as ripit $dvdfolder $dvdname which would then rip a copy of the DVD into the appropriate format upon completion of the copy. Doing this, Brian would not need to worry about what format to rip to, best way to rip, etc.
Very interesting integration with XBMC is being considered. Very timely as well as the cross-platform (xbox, windows, Linux) Atlantis release of XBMC is progressing quite well.
I’d love to hear from Brian how he envisions integration with XBMC working and why the sudden change. there is a post on his forum from early September stating that he wouldn’t be providing clients for other platforms. http://www.mymovies.dk/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=9060
The discussion in September is about creating clients for other platforms, which means specifically creating an add-on for these other softwares.
The current situation is that Media Portal, OML, Niveus Movie Library and others reads the meta-data that My Movies provides – this is what we hope that the XBMC movie player should be able to soon.
Some source code for this have been checked in by a person I have been in contact with to provide details, but as every other open source software, it has to go through some kind of verification process, which is why this is mentioned as “hopefully soon”.

This is exciting news! Sure wish My Movies had an MCML client and a better supported streaming mechanism. For now, I am using the DVD library hack.
