With TVTonic offering Olympic content (for US users) a lot of people are installing it for the first time. When I looked at it last week it was 32bit only but when I checked it today I noticed that they have posted a 64bit version. I had a few comments last week asking about a 64bit version so its good to see it supported. I wonder how many people are switching to 64bit Windows? The HP Touchsmart came with the 64bit version of Vista which apart from one of my own apps everything seems to be working well and I have no driver issues, so do you think 64bit matters?

  1. I’ve been using Vista x64 for over a year now. Much more responsive than 32-bit. I was disappointed when the TVTonic offering was 32-bit only. I think the more pertinent question is does MS and its OEM partners think it matters?

Adoption will be slow until the industry pushes it harder.

  2. Yes, it matters… As more and more computer come with more than 2gb of ram (is anyone still thinking about getting a pc with less ?), having a robust x64 version of drivers/apps/plugins will certainly be a good move.
