Microsoft have announced it low cost, very budget focused Surface Laptop SE. The £229 Surface is a direct competitor to Google Chromebooks and comes a special version of Windows called Windows 11 SE. The device is aimed at education markets and isn’t targeted for general consumers or enterprise.
The laptop comes with budget specifications: 11.6 inch screen, Intel Celeron Processor N4020/N4120, 4GB or 8GB, 64GB or 128GB eMMC storage and 720p front facing camera. While the specs will fill many enthusiasts with horror it isn’t aim at us and is focused on a budget for education.
The OS is Windows 11 SE, which is a simplified version of Windows 11 and missed things like the Microsoft Store. It has full screen app launch and a system for managing apps and again is designed for education.
