Next month Microsoft will release its latest Windows 10 feature update called the “Windows 10 May 2019 Update”. Windows Insiders are currently testing the update and I noticed a number of people including my podcast co-host Jason Coombes where initially not able to install the May 2019 / 1903 update (code named 19H1).

The problem actually dates back to a very old issue with the Surface Pro 3 (and other other devices) installing feature updates to Windows 10.

UPDATE: Microsoft are blocking the update to all PCs with SD cards or USB drives connected so this fix will work for any PC

If you get a message during the install phase of the update saying, “This PC can’t be upgraded to Windows 10. Your PC has hardware that isn’t ready for this version of Windows 10”. Which makes you think your PC is not compatible with the update, but it is actually a tiny thing that can be easily fixed with one quick action.

It is due to having a micro SD card inserted into the Surface, just pop it out and retry the update. This has worked many times in the past and fixe the issue installing the latest Windows 10 update.

I hope it helps you out!
