Philips Hue adds an outdoor sensor to their range

I am big fan of Philips Hue lights having them all around my home, last year Philips ventured into the outdoor market and this week at CES they added a new sensor to the range. The new Philips Hue Outdoor sensor is a battery powered wall mounted sensor that can control your Philips Hue lights, in-doors and out. It has a 12m detection range and a dawn-dusk sensor so it only is triggered when its dark outside. You could use it to turn on your outdoor lights as you approach your front door or have it switch on a indoor light making it look like someone is home. The sensor will cost 49 EURO and will be available next month.

Hue also announced new outdoor flood lights and pedestal lights are coming next month:

Press Release:

A warm welcome everyday with the Philips Hue Outdoor sensor

Experience the comfort of your lights turning on automatically when you arrive in the dark. The new weather-resistant Hue Outdoor sensor, which is wireless, battery-powered and easy to mount and set up, can welcome you home with light as you approach. Via the Philips Hue app, you can choose which lights – inside or out – go on when someone passes by the sensor, and make it look like someone is always at home.

Place the Hue Outdoor sensor on a flat wall in your garage, around your door or where it matters most in your yard. It has a detection range of 12m (39ft) and an integrated dusk-to-dawn sensor, ensuring that your lights will only turn on when it is dark outside.
