It’s fair to say that the Window 10 October 2018 Update (1809) has had a troubled release. Microsoft skipped the Release Preview ring of the of Insider preview program only to be hit with a file deletion bug something which I think would have been caught by the release preview ring.

Microsoft withdrew the update and re-released a patched version in November but it wasn’t actually available to everyone as Microsoft blocked it on some systems due to various bugs. Now all the restrictions have been lifted with Microsoft patching all the issues. Anyone that checked for updates via Windows Update will not get the 1809 update. Despite the issues the 1809 version is well worth updating to with vastly improved Windows Mixed Reality, Cloud Clipboard and more.

To get updated go to Settings, Windows Update and check for updates.
