Plex one of my favourite Media Server systems has just had a major overhaul to the photos features. Personal videos are now included in the photos section (as we reported with the Android update), which means that small video clips taken with your photos now appear in the photos section rather than being in the movies/TV sections. Also, Plex have given the UI of the web based photos view a spruce up and have improved the speed of importing photos (Plex say by up to 300%).
A nice new feature which is available for Plex Pass users is automatic tagging on photos. Using machine learning photos will automatically by tagged by things like “kitten” & “Puppy”. You will then be able to type a tag into the search bar and it will retrieve all the pictures automatically tagged. It will also show related photos using the tags.
To get the new photo features you are going to have to have a Plex Pass and the latest version of the server. More information on the Plex Blog.
