Today Microsoft finally announced a DVR app for the Xbox One. Since last year you have been able to watch live TV on the Xbox One and stream TV to Xbox apps and with the new DVR you will be able to schedule and record TV shows on your Xbox One to an external drive via the OneGuide. Microsoft said you will also be able to stream and download recorded TV shows to a Window 10 devices via a new app. The service will be subscription free and coming to the Xbox next year, note it is over-the-air TV so services like Freeview HD and not cable and satellite devices like a Sky+ box.
This is the final piece of the puzzle bringing Media Center’s TV functionality to the Xbox One and the streaming Windows 10 app means we finally get full home TV streaming something we never really achieved with Media Center as we never saw Softled (A software Media Center extender).
