Laptops and tablets are great when you are out and about but back at my desk I like having a 2nd monitor. The monitor I am using on my desk right now is the new Acer B236HDL which is a 23 inch display running at 1920 x 1080. The monitor has a height adjustable stand that you can easily slide the monitor up and down on, this is great in the top position above my Surface 3 Pro as a 2nd display. Not all monitors have this kind of stand and I have ended up using all sorts of homemade efforts to get the height. You can also mount the display vertically and Windows 10 works well in 1080 x 1920.
Obviously the most important thing with a monitor is the image quality and the Acer screen is very clear and bright with a good range of viewing angles. I found even with the bright office lights the screen doesn’t show a reflective glare and remains bright with great colour reproduction. The image is sharp and it looks great with Windows 10 and watching videos in full screen. Acer say it should be good for gaming as it has a 5ms response time to avoid ghosting and blurring, I am not much of a PC gamer anymore but I tried a few Windows games on it and it looks great.
The inputs on the model I test are Displayport, DVI and VGA and audio in. In the box you get a VGA cable, DisplayPort cable, DVI cable and power cord. The power supply is built in so no need for an external power brick.
