Back in February Microsoft released the first preview of Windows 10 for phones for a small set of phones and while it was great to be able to take a look at the development version of Windows on a phone there weren’t a lot of changes to the OS.

Today Microsoft have released a build 10051 of Windows 10 for phones and this time it supports a much wider range of phones, nearly all Lumia phones are supported except for the Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon. I am currently downloading the update and will report back with the changes.

Here is the list of phones supported:

  • Lumia 1020
  • Lumia 1320
  • Lumia 1520
  • Lumia 520
  • Lumia 525
  • Lumia 526
  • Lumia 530
  • Lumia 530 Dual Sim
  • Lumia 535

  • Lumia 635
  • Lumia 636
  • Lumia 638
  • Lumia 720
  • Lumia 730
  • Lumia 730 Dual SIM
  • Lumia 735
  • Lumia 810
  • Lumia 820
  • Lumia 822
  • Lumia 830
  • Lumia 920
  • Lumia 925
  • Lumia 928
  • Microsoft Lumia 430
  • Microsoft Lumia 435
  • Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM
  • Microsoft Lumia 435 Dual SIM DTV
  • Microsoft Lumia 532
  • Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual SIM
  • Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM
  • Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM

The headline changes seem to be:

  • Project Spartan browser
  • New mail and calendar apps
  • New phone and messages apps
  • New people apps
  • New maps app
  • New task switcher

There are plenty of issues with the new release like no office apps, no Bluetooth integration with Cortana and app crashes on 512MB devices but its still a development version and for now I am keeping my main 1520 on Windows Phone 8.1 and just testing Windows 10 on a 630.

The full changelog is over on the Windows Blog.
