Microsoft Windows 10 event packed in a lot of announcements in to the two hour event. In my last post I wrote about items talked about in the first hour including Windows 10 on the phone and free upgrades for Windows 7 users.

The 2nd hour had plenty to talk about. Microsoft talked about universal apps that will run on the desktop, tablet and phone. One of the most interesting new apps is a new browser called “Project Spartan” which has been built just for Windows 10 and has the ability to be able to annotate pages by the keyboard or pen, has new reading mode and also has Cortana integration. I can’t wait to try it!

Also mentioned in the presentation was the new music and video apps synced via OneDrive, I don’t know whether this means a music locker system for Xbox Music.

Another new app coming to Windows 10 is a new Xbox app that enables streaming of Xbox One games to a Windows 10 PC which I think is a fantastic idea, your family may want to watch TV and you can still carry on your game on your laptop. It also has all the social features of Xbox Live and I think is essentially a new version of the Xbox One SmartGlass app.

Microsoft HoloLens

There were rumors of a new gaming headset for the Xbox but it turned out to be Microsoft HoloLens, which looks like a set of glasses which projects holograms on them and looks amazing. It’s not a PC accessory, it’s a Windows 10 device in its own right that is going to open up an amazing opportunity for developers. Put my name down for one!

Plus they also showed off Microsoft Surface Hub that is a large screen device with touch for meetings.

Microsoft has posted a video of the event which you can watch at your leisure (http://www.microsoft.com/windows10story)

So it was a packed two hours from Microsoft, I can’t wait to get hold of the new Windows builds and get it on my tablets and phone. Microsoft has a very exciting few months ahead!
