Recently Microsoft has embraced the cross platform software mantra with apps that we wouldn’t excepted to see just a few years ago like Office for the iPad, Xbox Music on Android and OneNote on Android Ware.

It looks like it isn’t only software that Microsoft is looking at, today they have announced a cross platform Bluetooth keyboard called the Universal Mobile Keyboard. They keyboard works with Android devices, iPhones, iPads and Windows tablets meaning you only need to carry one keyboard around with you even when you have multiple devices running different operating systems. The keyboard has the option to switch from one OS to another and has a very neat fold out design that a phone or tablet can rest on giving you a laptop style setup.

Other manufactures have been doing this for a while but it’s interesting to see Microsoft embrace the scenarios many of us have with multiple devices. The keyboard will be $79.95 and available in the US in October, hopefully we will see it roll out to other countries soon.
