New Raspberry Pi B+ released, an even better media extender

The Raspberry Pi is a fantastic tool for education, introducing a new generation of kids to programming but for us tech enthusiast is a great low cost media player. The Raspberry Pi foundation has announced an updated version of the Pi that is going to be even better as a media extender. The new Raspberry Pi B+ has two more USB ports taking it up to four ports so there are more options connecting up USB drives and remote controls. The audio circuit has been improved so you should get less noise out of the audio output, it has lower power consumption, a Micro SD card instead of the large SD card slot and an improved form factor (aligned USB connectors and square placed mounting holes).

The Raspberry Pi is a great media player, you can use run XBMC on it and watch live TV, movies and listen to your music all in a little low cost device and it’s a great device for tinkering with. The new Pi costs the same as the old model and at £24.35 + VAT.
