Last week the BBC updated its iOS and Android versions of the BBC iPlayer app. The TV streaming app has a new UI designed to make browsing and discovering TV shows easier. There is a new home screen that includes curated programmes, a new category page with an A-Z list of categories, a new channel page including live TV shows and subtitles are available for downloaded TV programmes.

The updated iOS app is available in the iTunes Store and the updated Android version is available in the Google Play Store.

What’s New in Version 4.0.0

BBC iPlayer has been updated to make browsing and discovering programmes even easier.

We have created a new Home screen that includes a selection of editorially curated programmes including a group of the most popular programmes on iPlayer at the moment.

There are new Category pages, each with a selection of editorially curated programmes and a simple A-Z list to make finding programmes via your favourite categories even easier.

New branded Channel pages showcase programmes that are specific to each individual channel with the Live programme prominently displayed and easy to access.

The Home, Channel and Category pages all include editorial collections – programmes or episodes grouped together based on series or theme.

Subtitles are now also available for downloaded programmes.
