AllCast for Android

AllCast the DLNA,UPnP and Chromecasting app for Android has been updated with a couple interesting new features. With the app Google Music now sees the Android device as a Chromecast target so other devices (and apps) will see the app as an endpoint for Chromecast so you can send content to it.

The other new feature is a headphone hook. So you can Chromecast a video from your phone and to another device (like a FireTV hooked up to your TV) and then have the audio go through the phone, kind of like remote headphones. So you can sit on the sofa watch a movie on your TV but have the audio come through your headphones via your phone, currently this only works on the Fire TV and hopefully it will roll out to other devices soon.

There is a trial version with a 60 seconds preview limit in the Google Play Store and the full version costs £3.05 as an in-app purchase

What’s New

Oh, hello! I did not see you there. I’ve been playing too much Hearthstone lately. Fun!

Boring:

Roku fixes. Album art, stop button fix.

Cool:

Google Music now sees AllCast devices as Cast targets! Check out AllCast settings to enable this. It’s pretty sweet.

HEADPHONE HOOK OMG. I’m not even going to tell you what this is. I’ll just link a video:

Currently this only works w/ Fire TV and AllCast Receiver.

Oh, and there’s a new AllCast Receiver.
