If you have Chromecast dongle you will know it’s a great way of sending content from your browser or phone to the TV (I just got mine, see my review) and if you have a Media Browser system and an iOS device you can now send content from your Media Browser system to your TV.

With the app you can browse your media collection stored on a Media Browser server and then send them to the TV connected to the Chromecast device, it’s probably one of the easiest ways of getting Media Browser onto your TV without having a dedicated HTPC. If you have an Android device the Android version of Media Browser added support for Chromecast earlier this month.

Other changes to the app include a custom video player, new streaming and search options and image caching. Overall a nice improvement over the old app and the addition of Chromecast makes this a very nice setup. The iOS version is free from the iTunes Store.

Changes:

  • Chromecast support
  • New Custom Video Player
  • Video Streaming options – direct play, direct stream, stream copy and transcoding
  • New search feature
  • Image and media list caching
  • Numerous bug fixes, UI and performance enhancements
