Google Play Books on a Nexus 7Google have updated the Android Google Play Books apps adding PDF and EPUB support. You can now upload PDFs or EPUB to Google’s book app via the downloads app on an Android device or via Google Play Books website. It’s a pretty good way of reading PDF files on an Android device but there is no syncing of read pages like there is with Amazon’s Kindle app.

The updated app is available from the Google Play Store.

What’s New

* Upload PDF or EPUB files to your library. Enable PDF support in Settings, then touch a file in email or Downloads and choose Upload to Play Books.

* Settings and Help have moved to the main navigation menu.

* Performance improvements and bug fixes, including a fix to prevent the screen from sleeping while the app is reading aloud.
