A couple of weeks ago MediaPortal released the last beta of MediaPortal 1.6.0 and now they have the final version. 1.6.0 has a lot of changes since 1.5, the core database engine has been upgraded to MySQL 5.6 from 5.1 which should increase stability of the app. There is an improved TV experience including better handling of H.264 video so you should see an improvement in Freeview HD playback.
There are lot of changes to the music features, Last.fm support has been improved, as has music vilulisations, metadata retrival has been fixes (scraping the data from Allmusic.com) and there is now gapless playback. This build should work well with Windows 8.1 as well as Windows 8 and Windows 7. Have any of you given it a try yet?
We are very happy to present you the final version of MediaPortal 1.6.0 today. No new features were added between the Pre Release and the Final Release but a lot of bugs encountered by Team internal testings or because of our community who reported them in our bugforum have been fixed. Enjoy it!
