Google’s next Nexus phone has probably been one of the worst kept secrets for the a long time but today its finally official. Google have launched the Nexus 5 its first device with Android 4.4 KitKat.

The phone has a 5 inch display running at 1920 x 1080, weights 130g powered by a processor is a Snapdragon 800 running at 2.3Ghz. I use a Nexus 4 full time and the hi-res screen and light weight sounds very appealing.

This is the first device to run the next version of Android 4.4 KitKat which you can read about on the Android page. Hopefully 4.4 will roll out to existing Nexus devices like the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, some of the features like the always listening feature will only work on the Nexus 5 but it would be nice to have some of the other new features. Android 4.4 has new features like unified messaging, with text message features in Google Hangouts and prioritised contacts.

The 16GB Nexus 5 is priced at £299 and the 32GB version costs £339, it comes in black and white colours. Both devices are on sale now on the Google Play Store.
