Amazon have announced a 3rd generation of their Kindle Fire tablets. The new Kindle Fire HDX will come in 7 inch and 8.9 inch editions with a quad-core 2.2GHX Snandragon 800 processor, 2GB ram and comes in 16,32 and 64GB versions with or without LTE.

Where the Kindle HDX looks great is with its display. The 7 inch version has a 1920×1200 display which is 323PPI the same as the Nexus 7 and a very clear display. There is what Amazon call a “Mayday” button which is 24×7 on-device tech support and a new OS “Mojito” which is Amazon’s own user interface on top of Android which include OfficeSuite and other built in apps.

Prices start at $229 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only option rising up to $409 for the 64GB with LTE. There are no UK prices yet.
