I love the Surface Type keyboard, its a great keyboard and only slightly thicker than the Touch Cover. One of the things I like is the dedicated keys on the keyboard like the volume buttons and charms button but sometimes I miss the function keys. If you want to press F5 you press the FN button and then F5 which works fine but sometimes like when I am access our corporate mainframe I just want the function keys and not have to remember to press FN each time. In an update coming to the Surface next week you will have the ability to toggle between the new style buttons (like the Charms button) and the Function keys.

Also in the update are some new keyboard combinations for things like taking screenshots and page up and page down. They are small changes but do make the Surface that little bit easier to use. Here are the new keyboard shortcuts (take from the Surface blog)

Hopefully I will have my Surface RT fixed and returned by the time the update is out next week.

Fn + Caps: Locks F1-F12 into being function keys. Do it again and you get the charms, volume, Home, End, etc. if you are in the function lock mode, you can get the inverse options by pressing the Fn key, naturally
Fn + <spacebar>: Print Screen
Fn + <spacebar> + Alt: Print Screen for the in-focus App only
Fn + Del: Brightness Up
Fn + Backspace: Brightness Down
Fn + <left>: Home
Fn + <right>: End
Fn + <up>: Page Up
Fn + <down>: Page Down
